My name is Kirsten Barber. I’ve always loved a good story, whether written, told or shown. When I was little, I used to play “pretend” with my friends and toys, making up stories about far off places, fantastic people and absurd events. I filled composition books with daydreams and the adventures of made up characters. I believe this passion has traveled with me all my life and has spurred my desire to write about fascinating things and interesting people.
I received my BA in English from North Carolina State University in 2013. During my time in school and since graduating, I have pursued a professional career in writing, editing and publishing. I have been described by others as hardworking, passionate, a high achiever and a great listener. I have been praised for my ability to work well with others and to get my work done in a timely manner. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to work on projects with inspiring people and write for sources like the News & Observer, BestThinking.com and ExitEvent.
On a personal note, I love the mountains, the smell of rain and freshly mowed grass, a warm cup of coffee, the color purple, and the early fall months. I am continuously trying to advance my photography skills and taking Zumba classes when my schedule allows the time for it. I also love a good story, and if you can tell it well, you will be able to hold my attention for a long time.
